Biochem/physiol Actions
Originally isolated from salmon pituitary glands, also found in the mammalian CNS. In lower vertebrates, MCH alters pigmentation by inducing melanosome aggregation within melanocytes of teleost fish, whereas it causes melanosome dispersion in amphibians and reptiles.
